Liverpool: Ref Watch 17/18 - Manchester United (Away)
The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool's trip to Manchester United on Saturday...
The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 30 of the 2017/18 season.
The players of Liverpool and Manchester United, who meet at Old Trafford for a 12.30pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, March 10, will be joined on the pitch by referee Craig Pawson.
Gary Beswick and Peter Kirkup are his designated assistants, while Martin Atkinson will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.
Pawson's 26 previous games this season have yielded a total of 91 yellow cards and four red.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their three league matches played under his control this term; emphatically defeating Arsenal (six yellow cards shown, two to Liverpool) but being held by both Newcastle United (two yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool) and Everton (four yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool).
More recently Pawson was also the man in the middle when VAR took centre stage during their shock FA Cup exit to West Bromwich Albion in January (four yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool).
United have also had mixed fortunes during their 2017/18 encounters with the 38-year-old; winning two, drawing one and suffering defeat at Newcastle United last month.
The South Yorkshire native's yellow card average this campaign currently stands at 3.5-per-game, with a red card shown every 6.5 matches.
Pawson is associated with the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association and has been a member of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2013.
He was promoted to FIFA's list for European and International matches in 2015.
