Liverpool: Ref Watch 17/18 - Swansea City (Home)
The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool's hosting of Swansea City on Tuesday...
The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 20 of the 2017/18 season.
The players of Liverpool and Swansea City, who meet at Anfield for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, December 26, will be joined on the pitch by referee Kevin Friend.
Adrian Holmes and Mark Scholes are his designated assistants, while Paul Tierney will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.
Friend's 15 previous games this season have yielded a total of 37 yellow cards and one red.
This will be the third time the 46-year-old has officiated Liverpool this term, following the 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town on October 28 (one yellow card shown, none to Liverpool) and the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on August 19 (four yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool). As with the upcoming contest with Swansea, the Reds were at home for both fixtures.
The visitors, meanwhile, are yet to cross paths with Friend during 2017/18. Their four matches with him in the middle last term ended in two wins, including a 3-2 success at Anfield, and two defeats.
The Bristol native's yellow card average this campaign currently stands at a miserly 2.46-per-game.
Friend is associated with the Leicestershire and Rutland County Football Association and has been part of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2009.
