Liverpool: Ref Watch 17/18 - Arsenal (Away)
The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on Friday...
The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 19 of the 2017/18 season.
The players of Liverpool and Arsenal, who meet at the Emirates for a 7.45pm GMT kick-off on Friday, December 22, will be joined on the pitch by referee Martin Atkinson.
Stephen Child and Adam Nunn are his designated assistants, while Stuart Attwell will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.
Atkinson's 13 previous games this season have yielded a total of 41 yellow cards and four red.
This will be the third time the 46-year-old has officiated Liverpool this term, following the 0-0 home draw with Manchester United on October 14 (two yellow cards shown, none to Liverpool) and the 3-0 win at Stoke City on November 29 (six yellow cards shown, five to Liverpool).
Hosts Arsenal are yet to cross paths with Atkinson during 2017/18. Their four matches with him in the middle last term ended in two wins and two defeats.
The Bradford native's yellow card average this campaign currently stands at 3.15-per-game, with a red card shown every 3.25 matches.
Atkinson is associated with the West Riding County Football Association and has been part of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2005.
He was promoted to FIFA's list for European and International matches in 2006.
