Liverpool shot-stopper Simon Mignolet is confident Liverpool can turn their performances into results again starting with Manchester United's visit to Anfield after the international break. Speaking to the official website, following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, the Belgium international remarked: "I think we played well, we deserved to get the victory; we created chances. But it is how it is at this moment in time, we have to take it. It's disappointing and frustrating but we have to keep looking forward, keep our heads up and make sure when we come back after the international break we go again against Manchester United, which is a big game and something to turn things right for us. Everybody will be away in another environment and when they come back we've got that one to look forward to."

Philippe Coutinho's stunning 25-yard strike at St James' Park took his tally of Premier League goals scored from outside the box to 17. That's at least three more than any other player in the league since the Brazilian made his Reds debut in February 2013.

Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard has been presented with the Legend of Football Award for 2017 at a special event in London on Monday night, following in the footsteps of the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Pele and Sir Stanley Matthews. A host of ex-team mates and managers were on hand to see the current Reds U19s boss pick up an accolade he later described as 'humbling'.

Of Gerrard's prospects as a manager, former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso has predicted a bright future for his one-time midfield partner. "I'm following the early steps of his career closely and for sure he has all the attributes to become a big manager and a Liverpool manager one day," commented the recently retired ex-Bayern Munich and Spain playmaker star to Liverpoolfc.com. "To have someone with his knowledge [will help Liverpool's youngsters]. But it's different, you can be a great player but being a manager is a different task. For sure, he's really focused and if he's able to deliver that message he will be a good one."

There were also wins for Welsh duo Ben Woodburn and Ian Rush at the annual Football Association of Wales Awards this past week. The former scooped the Young Player of the Year prize, while the later was presented with the FA's Special Award in recognition of his services to Welsh football.

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has been ruled out for two months due to a dislocated shoulder. The England U20s World Cup winner, who is on a season-long loan at Fulham, was hurt during last Friday's Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Popular ex-Reds striker Rickie Lambert has announced his retirement from professional football. The 35-year-old, who spent one season at Anfield playing for his boyhood club in 2014/15, left Cardiff City by mutual consent in the summer. The Merseysider, who also played for Southampton, Blackpool, Macclesfield, Stockport, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers, won 11 caps for England and represented the Three Lions at the 2014 World Cup.

Liverpool's New Balance 2017/18 men's short-sleeved home jersey is now back in stock both in store and online. The shirt was previously sold out for a period due to high demand. To buy, visit one of Liverpool FC's official retail outlets, or click here.

Premier League 2 pacesetters Liverpool U23s kicked-off their Premier League Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic on Friday night. Terrique Anderson put the home team ahead in the Group G clash but Harry Wilson's sixth goal of the season restored parity before the interval. Danny Ings twice went close to finding a winner in the second half but to no avail. LFC U23s: Kelleher, Parker (Masterson, 74'), Whelan, Jones, Virtue, Brannagan, Dhanda (Kane, 80'), Ejaria, Ings, Wilson, Adekanye (Juanma, 74').

On the same night, Liverpool Ladies suffered a 3-0 home home defeat to Reading FC Women in the Women's Super League. The female Reds endured a tough evening against former player Fara Williams' latest side but did go close to netting on a number of occasions, most notably when Caroline Weir hit a post during the second half. LFC Ladies: Chamberlain, Murray (Harris, 82'), Greenwood, Stoney, Bonner, Ingle, Charles (Clarke, 60'), Coombs, Harding, Weir, England.
