Liverpool: Injury Update 16/17 - West Ham United (Away)

Which players are struggling to be fit for West Ham United vs. Liverpool?...

Roberto Firmino and Lucas Leiva are both doubtful for Sunday's trip to West Ham United with muscular issues that have hampered their ability to train since the frustrating 0-0 draw with Southampton last weekend.

Regardless of the availability of the Brazilian duo, Adam Lallana, a substitute in the past two matches, is almost certain to be handed a first start since recovering from a groin injury.

Selection wise, Daniel Sturridge could be preferred to Divock Origi in attack with the Belgium forward amidst a barren spell of 424 minutes without a goal. Both may start if Firmino is ruled out.

Elsewhere things remain largely unchanged on the injury front with Sadio Mané, Danny Ings and back-up goalie Adam Bogdan all long-term knee injury victims and captain Jordan Henderson continuing to be hampered by a persistent foot problem.

Asked by the Liverpool ECHO earlier this week whether or not Henderson would be seen again this season, manager Jürgen Klopp remarked: "It is too early to say...

"We stay positive because he is strong - the moment someone gives him the green light he will be back in a second because of his attitude and character."

Hosts West Ham have a number of major absentees for this contest, particularly in midfield where they are without Mark Noble (abdominal), Cheikou Kouyate (wrist), Pedro Obiang (ankle) and Gökhan Töre (knee).

Other absentees include Angelo Ogbonna (knee), Michail Antonio (hamstring), Diafra Sakho (back) and former Reds striker Andy Carroll (groin), while French full-back Arthur Masuaku faces a late fitness test (foot).

Neither side is currently missing any players through suspension.
