Liverpool FC have submitted a formal application for their revamped training facility at Kirkby. The £50million scheme will see the first team leave Melwood for the site of the club's Academy, which will be expanded to include a full-size indoor pitch and a new building. The existing main pitch will also be upgraded with improved floodlighting and a 499-seater stand. The planning application is expected to be considered by the council's planning committee later this year.

Speaking after his double win at the 2017 Players' Awards on Tuesday night, Sadio Mané thanked his colleagues for helping him improve as a player. "It is a big honour for me to win these trophies, especially with all of the great players in the dressing room," said Mané to the official website. "I want to thank everybody, all the fans who have voted for me, and I'm very happy. The Players' Player of the Season award means so much for me because it is the players in the dressing room who voted for me and I want to thank them. I have been learning a lot from the manager, the coaches and my teammates. That's been the key."

Roberto Firmino's stunning long-range volley during the 2-1 victory over Stoke City has been voted Liverpool's Goal of the Month for April. The Brazilian's strike polled 60% of the total votes cast to finish ahead of two Philippe Coutinho goals.

Stand-in Reds captain James Milner has revealed his disappointment at missing a penalty during the 0-0 draw with Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the versatile former England international remarked: "It's a good save but obviously the penalty wasn't good enough because it didn't go in. I have to take full responsibility for that and it's cost us massively today. It's very disappointing when the boys have worked so hard to give me the opportunity to help us win the game."

Liverpool FC has been awarded with the highest accolade from the Premier League for its commitment to equality. The Merseysiders are the first club to attain the Equality Standard Advanced Level since governance of the matter transferred to the Premier League from equality and inclusion organisation Kick It Out in 2015. Successes included the commitment of LFC's leadership to equity and diversity, the development of inclusive policy and procedures and community initiatives.

Liverpool U23s brought their Premier League 2 season to an end with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Merseyside rivals and newly-crowned champions Everton at Goodison Park on Monday evening. Mike Garrity's side, who finish third, took the local bragging rights through goals from Sheyi Ojo and Trent Alexander-Arnold. LFC U23s: Grabara, Alexander-Arnold, Randall, N. Phillips, Gomez, Virtue (J. Williams, 74'), Wilson, Ejaria, Ojo, Grujic, Woodburn (Hart, 90'+3).

Ojo, who notched the opener against the Toffees, and Ovie Ejaria have been called up to the England squad for the U20 World Cup in South Korea later this month. The nation's opening game is against Argentina on Saturday May 20.

Academy striker Rhian Brewster featured for 56 minutes as England beat the Netherlands 3-0 to make it three wins from three in Group D of the U17 European Championship on Wednesday. Brewster, who has scored three times at the tournament so far, will next be in action on Saturday when the Three Lions meet the Republic of Ireland in the quarter-finals.

Teenage defender George Johnston has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool Football Club. A regular for Neil Critchley's U18s this season, the Scotland youth international joined the Reds at the age of nine.

Liverpool Ladies continued their unbeaten start to the Spring Series with a 2-0 win over Birmingham at St Andrews on Sunday afternoon. Jess Clarke and Gemma Bonner were the players on target for Scott Rogers' charges. LFC Ladies: Chamberlain, Hodson, Greenwood, Stoney (Longhurst, 75'), Bonner, Ingle, Weir (Zelem, 56'), Coombs, Clarke (Van Der Sanden, 68'), Charles, Harding.
