Liverpool: Injury Update 16/17 - Stoke City (Away)
Which players are struggling to be fit for Stoke City vs. Liverpool?...
Kop boss Jürgen Klopp has delivered the blow all Liverpool fans were dreading by confirming that top-scorer Sadio Mané's season is over.
"We're pretty sure he will require surgery," commented the German at his pre-Stoke press conference on Friday. "We're not sure when that will be, but it's clear his season is over.
"It will be pretty much impossible for him to play again this season. He'll have a long break until next season.
"That's what I expected. I thought he was lucky not more happened. He will be ready for the next season. That's the only good news."
The summer arrival, who has been one of the Premier League's standout performers this campaign, injured his knee against Everton last weekend and still awaits a definitive prognosis.
Elsewhere, midfield duo Adam Lallana (thigh) and Jordan Henderson (foot) continue to be sidelined, along with long-term absentees Ovie Ejaria (ruptured syndesmosis), Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan (both knee).
Selection wise, Joël Matip is expected to return to the starting X1 after a back problem confined him to a place amongst the substitutes for Wednesday's 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth. Philippe Coutinho should retain his place despite being forced off against the Cherries through illness.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes heads into the contest with the possibility of having a full squad to select from.
The Potters were without Xherdan Shaqiri and Jonathan Walters for their trip to Burnley in midweek, while Marc Muniesa and Mame Diouf both suffered knocks at Turf Moor, but the quartet are all expected to be passed fit.
Neither side is currently missing any players through suspension.
