Liverpool: Ref Watch 16/17 - Burnley (Home)
The lowdown on the man in the middle for Liverpool's hosting of Burnley on Sunday...
The Premier League has announced the officiating teams who will be taking charge of top-flight fixtures during Matchweek 28 of the 2016/17 season.
The players of Liverpool and Burnley, who meet at Anfield for a 4.00pm GMT kick-off on Sunday, March 12, will be joined on the pitch by referee Craig Pawson.
Scott Ledger and Simon Long are his designated assistants, while Neil Swarbrick will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.
Liverpool have crossed paths with Pawson on three previous occasions this season, all at Anfield; winning 4-1 against Leicester City back in September (three yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool), beating Manchester City 1-0 on New Year's Eve (three yellow cards shown, two to Liverpool) and suffering a shock FA Cup exit to Wolverhampton Wanderers by a 1-2 scoreline in January (four yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool).
Weekend opponents Burnley beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at Turf Moor when they last participated in a game officiated by the 37-year-old on Boxing Day (11 yellow cards shown, six to Burnley).
Overall, in his 27 matches refereed in all competitions this term, the South Yorkshire-native has handed out a total of 108 yellow cards and four red. His current yellow card average stands at exactly 4-per-game, with a red card shown every 6.75 matches.
Pawson is associated with the Sheffield and Halamshire County Football Association and has been part of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2013.
He was promoted to FIFA's list for European and International matches in 2015.
