Liverpool: VL's March 2016 Player Of The Month

Who has won the Vital Liverpool Player of the Month award for Premier League performances during March 2016?...

With their involvement in the FA Cup over and an international break at the end of the month, March was a relatively quiet period in Liverpool's so far hectic season.

It was no less pivotal though with the Merseysiders overcoming bitter rivals Manchester United over two-legs in the Europa League. The huge clash, which Liverpool won far more comfortably than the 3-1 aggregate scoreline suggests, surprisingly represented a first ever European meeting between the pair.

In the Premier League, Liverpool looked set for three wins from three before a late capitulation at Southampton saw Jurgen Klopp's men lose 3-2 after holding a 2-0 half-time lead.

Previously the Reds had recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Manchester City - extracting instant revenge for their agonising defeat to the same opposition in the Capital One Cup final just three days prior - and a 2-1 triumph at Crystal Palace, although that was predominantly owed to a controversial late penalty.

In total Liverpool scored seven goals and conceded three in their three league outings.

There were a couple of standout performers during the month with an honourable mention going to Dejan Lovren who is finally beginning to show on a regular basis why Liverpool invested so much money in him...

The Vital Liverpool Player of the Month is determined by the individual MOTM awards cast for each Premier League fixture. In the event of no clear winner, the editor has the deciding vote.
