Liverpool: VL's September 2014 Player Of The Month

Who has won the Vital Liverpool Player of the Month award for Premier League performances during September 2014?...

September has represented a massive struggle for Liverpool as they continue to attempt to find their feet amidst heightened expectations this season.

The Reds failed to win any of their three Premier League fixtures, suffering defeats to Aston Villa and West Ham United and conceding an injury time equaliser to Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

Mitigating circumstances such as injuries and the amount of new players purchased can be applied by there is no denying the side have desperately underperformed so far.

There were better days in the cup competitions at least, as Brendan Rodgers' men marked their return to the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Ludogorets Razgrad before edging out Middlesbrough in a record-setting Capital One Cup penalty shootout.

Defensively Liverpool failed to keep a single clean sheet during the month and things weren't any better at the other end of the pitch either as Mario Balotelli and co. managed just two goals in their three league outings.

There were some decent individual displays amongst the doom and gloom however...
