Liverpool: VL's April Player Of The Month

Liverpool: VL's April Player Of The Month

Who has won the Vital Liverpool Player of the Month award for Premier League performances during April 2014?...

April produced the full gambit of emotions for Liverpool as three straight victories, including one over fellow championship chasers Manchester City, initially put them in pole position for a first ever Premier League title.

However, their run of 11 straight victories was abruptly halted by defeat to rivals Chelsea in the final game of the month and now the advantage lies elsewhere with just two games to play.

The three wins and one defeat registered during April produced eight goals for and five against with no clean sheets recorded.

Raheem Sterling provided three of Liverpool's strikes, Steven Gerrard notched twice and the other goals came courtesy of Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel and Philippe Coutinho.

All five, along with Joe Allen in particular, produced some eye-catching displays in individual matches but there can only be one overall winner...

Second month in a row I disagree with our Player of the Month (decided by combining the results of the individual MOTM polls). Raheem Sterling should have got it for me, although Gerrard was excellent in the three wins if not the Chelsea defeat.

LOL Gerrard as your player of the month! Are you just ignoring the fact that he cost you the title?

without gerrard's leadership and his recent goals against the likes of United and West Ham we wouldn't have been where we were anyway. although he was poor against chavski

I sense the voting for the MOTM vs. Chelsea may have been gate crashed by fans of other clubs :-) Gerrard certainly wasn't amongst our best (not that anyone really shone) that day, regardless of what the results say. He was excellent against West Ham and City though so you can make a decent case over the whole month.
