Liverpool: Lawro Predicts Norwich Result

Former Reds defender Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Norwich City vs. Liverpool and attempts to predict the result...

Ex-Anfield centre-back, turned media pundit, Mark Lawrenson has expressed his thoughts ahead of a crucial fixture between fourth-bottom Norwich City and league leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

The Merseysiders go into the match looking for a 11th straight victory - a feat they haven't achieved since last lifting the title in 1990.

Norwich meanwhile are being hotly tipped for relegation after a poor run of results which cost manager Chris Hughton his job.

Lawrenson, writing in his regular 'Lawro Predicts' column for the BBC, believes the visitors will move a step closer to a first ever Premier League championship.

Here's what he had to say in full...

"This fixture usually ends up being Norwich 0-3 Luis Suarez - he scored four against Norwich in December and has hit a hat-trick at Carrow Road in each of the last two seasons.

"I thought Norwich were a bit unlucky to lose to Fulham last week after making lots of chances, but they don't score enough goals and their problem is that when they concede they tend to collapse.

"It is hard to see them keeping this Liverpool side out for long because Brendan Rodgers's side are sweeping all before them.

"I just don't see anybody stopping Liverpool's title charge now. They are playing outstanding football, and blowing teams away so early on in games. No matter who the opposition are, they have all cracked.

"They are on an incredible run of 10 straight wins and the title is in their hands.

"I hate to say it, because there is no such thing as a team in unstoppable form, but they are as close to that as you can possible be.

"They have four games to go and, when they are in this type of form, they will feel like they could play those four games in four days.

"The prize is in sight now and Steven Gerrard will not stop until he has his hands on the Premier League trophy.

"Everybody also knows what finally winning the title would mean to him, because it is the only thing really missing off his club CV.

"Gerrard undoubtedly realises this is his big chance, and he is a big part of the reason why Liverpool are in pole position. On top of what he brings to the squad in terms of experience and leadership, he has also been absolutely fantastic on the pitch."

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

About this former LFC player
Mark Lawrenson joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion for a then club record £900k in the summer of 1981. The Republic of Ireland international centre-back soon struck up a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen after injury to club stalwart Phil Thompson. After 332 appearances, Lawrenson left the club in 1989 and after a season playing in the American Soccer League went on to manage Oxford United and Peterborough United. During his time at Anfield 'Lawro' won 5 league titles, 3 League Cups, a European Cup and an FA Cup.
