Liverpool: Fulham Match Goes Ahead
Liverpool's trip to Craven Cottage on Wednesday night is now certain to go ahead as scheduled...
The prospect of tomorrow's Barclays Premier League fixture between Fulham and Liverpool being postponed has ended.
A planned 48 hour strike by Tube workers had put the game in jeopardy with the Cottagers worried that staff would not be able to attend 'in sufficient time and numbers' to meet safety requirements.
Fortunately the industrial action, which was due to start at 9pm GMT this evening, was postponed this afternoon following talks between London Underground and the unions involved.
The walkout would have been a repeat of action taken last week and centres primarily on plans to close manned ticket offices.
A statement from the hosts, confirming the game will proceed, read: "Fulham Football Club can confirm that, due to the resolution of the proposed London Underground strike action, its game versus Liverpool on Wednesday night will go ahead as planned."
Brendan Rodgers and his squad will travel to the capital today as they step up their preparations for the encounter.
