Reds forward Iago Aspas has been sidelined for six weeks with a torn thigh muscle...
Summer recruit Iago Aspas has been ruled out until December after tearing a thigh muscle, the club have confirmed.
The striker limped away from training at Melwood yesterday and the results of a scan conducted today showed the extent of the damage suffered.
An article on the official LFC website revealed: "Liverpool Football Club today confirmed that Spanish forward Iago Aspas has suffered a torn thigh muscle in training.
"The 26-year-old picked up the injury at Melwood on Thursday and has subsequently been assessed by the Reds' medical staff.
"He is expected to be available for a return by the beginning of December."
The news will come as a further blow to the diminutive forward who has struggled to make an impact at Anfield since arriving from Celta Vigo for around £7million.
Liverpool's No.9 has failed to net in six appearances and only last week admitted he was struggling to adjust to life as a substitute following the return from suspension of Luis Suarez.
Although Aspas' absence has little impact on the starting line-up it does leave us short in terms of central striking options and replacements. If either Suarez or Daniel Sturridge is missing in the next few weeks we will probably need to adjust the formation and tactics back to playing with one forward and other attackers supporting from wide areas. With the only other recognised strikers at the club untested youngsters such as Adam Morgan, Samed Yesil and Michael Ngoo, the decision to allow Fabio Borini depart on loan now looks somewhat questionable.
