Liverpool: Borini Out For The Season
Injury jinxed Liverpool forward Fabio Borini is likely to be out for the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder...
Liverpool's resounding 5-0 victory over Swansea City on Sunday afternoon was tarnished late on by a serious injury to Italian striker Fabio Borini.
The 21-year-old, who had only recently returned from three months on the sidelines with a broken foot, landed awkwardly in a challenge and dislocated a shoulder.
Borini, a £10.5m summer signing from Roma, had only entered proceedings as a 78th minute substitute but left the field shortly afterwards screaming in agony.
The injury left the Reds to end the match with 10 men after all three substitutions had already been made.
Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the news in his post-match press conference, saying: "He will probably be out for the season. It looks like he's dislocated his shoulder.
"It's unfortunate. It's actually the other shoulder to a similar injury he had when he was at Chelsea.
"It looks like in the early stages that is the diagnosis."
So far in his Liverpool career Borini has managed just the solitary goal in a Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel. Today represented his 16th appearance for the club.
