Liverpool: Transfer Deadline Day Blog

Vital Liverpool is with you all the way as the transfer window ticks down to tonight's 11pm (GMT) deadline. Could there be any further comings and goings at LFC?...

Generally it has been a good transfer window so far for Liverpool with two exciting international talents signed and some high-earning fringe players removed from the wage bill.

But is there still further movement to come? Vital Liverpool will keep you updated throughout the day so make sure you come back to this page and refresh regularly.

Latest News & Gossip
09.00: Good morning everyone and welcome to our deadline day blog.

09.14: Reds boss Brendan Rodgers put a bit of a damper on proceedings last night by stating: "I don't think there'll be any more coming in." The comments followed the 2-2 draw with Arsenal but you can never rule anything out on deadline day! Just ask the likes of Fernando Torres, Andy Carroll and Robbie Fowler.

09.27: Looking at this morning's gossip and social media chatter, if anyone is to join today it may well be Blackpool's Tom Ince. The ex-Anfield winger has been pursued all month by Liverpool but so far the Reds have refused to meet Blackpool's £8m valuation. Jack Butland looks likely to leave financially troubled Birmingham City and Liverpool are said to be in the frame, although they're far from favourites to sign the keeper. Elsewhere, Sebastian Coates could still leave the club by 11pm tonight, probably on loan, but only if a replacement is secured first.

10.13: One player linked with a move to Merseyside who seemingly won't be joining is Argentine striker Mauro Zarate. The 25-year-old Lazio man appears to be on the verge of joining Dynamo Kiev after his agent, Luis Ruzzi, commented: "The boy is happy, he's married to the cause and there are no other alternatives for him - it's either Lazio or Dynamo."

10.57: All very quiet on the Liverpool transfer news front. Looks like Rodgers wasn't bluffing last night when saying he expected nothing more to happen. It can all change in an instant though remember!

11.23: One for the summer as opposed to today but French defender Mobido Diakite has revealed he wants to play for the Reds. The player's agent, Ulisse Savini, is quoted by Sky Italia as saying: "Liverpool are our first choice for June, but there is no hurry. We'll see in the next few days, however, it would be very difficult to say no to a club like that." The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer so a pre-contract agreement can be made now if Liverpool are interested.

12.01: Former Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua has completed his move from Sporting Lisbon to Athletico Madrid. The 24-year-old has cost the Spaniards around £3m with a percentage of the fee going to Anfield as a result of a sell-on clause inserted when he left in 2011.

12.32: Liverpool striker Dani Pacheco is reported to be on the move. The Spain U21 international is in talks with Segunda Division side Girona over a loan deal until the end of the season. Pacheco has made 17 first-team appearances at Liverpool since arriving back in 2007 but has struggled to get a look in of under Brendan Rodgers.

13.12: Sky Sports sources are suggesting Liverpool's Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni may have his contract cancelled by mutual consent. The 33-year-old has not featured this season and has spent time back in South America due to personal problems.

13.21: An update on Dani Pacheco... SD Huesca, another Spanish Second Division outfit, have joined Girona in the pursuit of the 22-year-old according to the Liverpool Daily Post amongst others.

14.50: Sky Sports are reporting that Stoke City have signed Jack Butland for a fee of just under £5m. The England international will remain on loan at Birmingham City until the end of the season.

15.01: Liverpool FC have officially confirmed the news that Dani Pacheco has joined Sociedad Deportiva Huesca on loan for the remainder of the campaign. The former Barcelona youth has previously had loan spells at Norwich City and Rayo Vallecano.

15.54: No official word from the club but a number of sources are now saying Alexander Doni has left Liverpool. The BBC are going as far as saying the 33-year-old has already found a new side and will move to Botafogo back in his native Brazil.

16.59: Not transfer news related but a combined total of eight Liverpool players have been named in the full and U21 England squads to play friendlies next week. Click here to find out who...

18.37: Still very quiet on any potential last minute deals involving Liverpool. Some talk on Twitter regarding Suso potentially going on loan to Wigan Athletic. Others suggesting one more bid is to be made for Tom Ince which if rejected will see Liverpool return for the winger in the summer. So far we haven't been able to varify either rumour with any respected sources however.

20.26: Suso has taken to Twitter himself to deny rumours he could be leaving Anfield on loan. @suso30fernandez: "Im making clear that im not going on loan to Wigam. Im really happy in liverpool and ill try my best to be playing here every game..#YNWA"

21.04: Confirmation finally through from Liverpool FC that reserve goalkeeper Alexander Doni has departed. The Brazilian joins Botafogo for nothing, as reported earlier. He made just four first-team appearances for Liverpool after arriving from AS Roma in July 2011.

22.02: So we're into the final hour and, as has been the case all day in truth, the chances of any further new faces arriving is pretty non-existent. As way of a recap, two more players have departed today; Dani Pacheco has joined Huesca on loan whilst Alexander Doni has moved back to his native South America with Botafogo on a free transfer. If anything else does happen we will of course let you know.

23.00: So that is that - the transfer window is now closed and Liverpool failed/decided not to add further players to the previous captures of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho. Two more existing personnel did leave today however and you can see a full recap of all the ins and outs completed during January below. On occasion some deals do get completed in the moments following the window closing and if anything does emerge we will be sure to let you know. Otherwise it is time to bring this blog to a close and wish everyone a good night. YNWA
