The latest Women's Super League season is imminent and Liverpool Ladies are about to step up their preparations...
In preparation for the kick-off of the Women's Super League this March, Liverpool Ladies FC has signed a number of world class players from home and abroad in a bid to aid their challenge for the title. The new squad can be seen playing at their new home, Halton Stadium.
Additions to the squad such as Fara Williams and Natasha Dowie, signed locally from Everton, will be performing alongside players who come from much further afield, such as Whitney Engen and Katrín Ómarsdótti, who hail from the USA and Iceland respectively.
Liverpool Ladies player, Fara Williams commented: "I am so excited about this season. We have a really strong team and a new home to play in. With these factors combined I'm sure this will be a really exciting season for Liverpool Ladies and our fans".
The refreshed Liverpool squad will be playing their home games at Halton Stadium in Widnes. The new venue is easily accessible for fans, with access from the M62 motorway and via public transport-just a short walk from Widnes train station. The all seater Halton Stadium has a capacity of more than 13,000 and boasts an artificial Astroturf pitch, as well as an electronic scoreboard.
Liverpool Ladies Manager, Matt Beard commented: "The team has had a complete facelift. We now sit under the Liverpool FC umbrella and with their support we have worked to build a squad with talented players from home and abroad. We're very excited about kicking off the season at our new home, Halton Stadium and hope that fans will come and support us".
