Liverpool: Lawro Predicts QPR Result

What scoreline has former Reds defender Mark Lawrenson plumped for in the latest edition of his prediction feature?...

Ex-Liverpool centre-back turned media pundit Mark Lawrenson has expressed his feelings ahead of his old side's trip to Loftus Road on Sunday.

Writing in his regular 'Lawro Predicts' column for the BBC, the 55-year-old expects Harry Redknapp's improving side to edge the contest and confine Liverpool to another defeat.

Here's what he had to say in full...

"It is only a couple of weeks ago that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was talking about finishing second but they have won less than a third of their games and 10th place is about right for them at the moment.

"It was evident in the Reds' defeat by Stoke that, although Luis Suarez is a real handful and such a good player, they haven't really got anyone up there to help him.

"It is the lack of support for Suarez that might cost Liverpool, because too many of their attacking players are peripheral. I don't think Rodgers has got enough players who can change games.

"I know they have got a deal set up to take Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea but I am not sure where they are going to play him and it is important he is used in the right way.

"QPR also lost on Boxing Day, although I think they were a bit unfortunate to be beaten by West Brom.

"Rangers claimed a dramatic win over Liverpool towards the end of last season, when they came back from 2-0 late on and I just have a feeling they might pull off something similar on Sunday.

"They must be in a position where they think they might as well go for it, because they are losing games anyway, and I think Liverpool might be suffering from a bit of a hangover after their Boxing Day setback against Stoke."

Lawro's prediction: 2-1

About this former LFC player
Mark Lawrenson joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion for a then club record £900k in the summer of 1981. The Republic of Ireland international centre-back soon struck up a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen after injury to club stalwart Phil Thompson. After 332 appearances, Lawrenson left the club in 1989 and after a season playing in the American Soccer League went on to manage Oxford United and Peterborough United. During his time at Anfield 'Lawro' won 5 league titles, 3 League Cups, a European Cup and an FA Cup.
