Liverpool: Europa Squad Announced

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has named his 30 man squad for the upcoming Europa League group stage...

Unsurprisingly given Liverpool's well documented failure to bring in suitable new additions before the transfer deadline, manager Brendan Rodgers has picked a youthful looking European squad.

"We all know we needed reinforcements and the players needed help, but the window is shut, we can't do anything about it now," commented Rodgers on Sunday after the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal.

"My only concentration is with the players that are here, and they've been fantastic. They've given me absolutely everything every day and I couldn't ask for any more from them.

"We've got what we've got. A lot of young players are going to get an opportunity."

The Reds are in a tough looking Group A alongside Italians Udinese, big spending Russian's Anzi Machakala and Young Boys of Bern from Switzerland.

All matches in the competition will take place on a Thursday with Liverpool's first game away at Young Boys on September 20th followed by Udinese's visit to Anfield a fortnight later.

Back-to-back games against Anzi take place on October 25th (home) and November 8th (away) before Liverpool end the group at home to Young Boys on November 22nd and then finally away to Udinese on December 6th.
