Reds CL Tie Switched To Kiev

Reds CL Tie Switched To Kiev

Liverpool will play the second leg of their Champions League third qualifying round against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa in Kiev.

UEFA decided that it was too dangerous for Rafael Benitez`s side to travel to Israel and play the second leg there. Instead the game will be played at home of Dynamo Kiev.

The Reds lead 2-1 in the tie thanks to goals from Craig Bellamy and Mark Gonzalez in the first leg at Anfield last week.

The return leg will take place on Tuesday 22nd August, three days after Liverpool open their Premiership campaign away to Sheffield United (August 19th).

On one hand it is advantageous to us as it wont be in the summer heat of Cyprus (or Israel) but on the other hand maccabi may play it like an away game again and cause us problems on the counter attack. This game could possibly be a bit of a banana skin but with our fitness being 2 more weeks better off we should perform better than in the first leg and i fully expect us to come out on top.
