Liverpool: Happy Where I Am

Every now and again Ryan Babel reminds Liverpool that he still plays for us. Sometimes this is with moments of brilliance, like his goal against Lyon in the Champions League, others (and all too often) it's by shockingly poor displays. We also quite often hear words from the Dutchman, usually around international time, where he either expresses a desire to leave Anfield or denies claims that this is the case.

Once again, and of course during the international break, the winger has denied that he's looking to leave the Reds but also knows that he will need to play regularly to make it into the Dutch squad for the World Cup Finals. The 22 year old had plenty to say about the Dutch national side and also our season and still believes that we can turn this round in the Premier League and the CL. Babel explains all to Sky Sports, as you'll see in this video:

I think it's clear for all to see that Babel is not happy at Liverpool... it seems very difficult for him to motivate himself when he does get the odd start or substitute appearance. I can sympathise with him on some level though... as I've mentioned on a previous topic, I'd love Rafa to give Babel a try up front to give Torres a chance to recover from his groin problems. I really do think he could provide good cover for Torres if given the chance.

He will have to prove his worth now with Benny and Reira out for a while. I too would like to see him up top but don't really have much belief in him. He is the most puzzling player I have seen in a while as he can have moments of brilliance then turn around and ruin it cause he refuse to pass the ball. I would personally sell him along with Dossena and Voronin and try to sign Mata or Silva but I doubt that we have the money and even if we sell those players our owners would probably take the cash from Rafa.

I would keep him until the end of the season, or if we could get Van der Vaart get what we can for him.

I think that Babel has had enough chances and it's time for him, and others, to move on.
