Liverpool: Robbie Aiming High!

Robbie Aiming High!

Robbie Fowler has never been one to doubt his own ability and now the Liverpool legend has set his targets high for when he does retire, as he eventually wants to be the boss at Anfield. Robbie hasn't said that he will be the Reds' boss but has said that is what he one day wants, as he explained to Liverpoolfc.tv:

'Anyone who says they don't want to manage Liverpool is lying - it's a massive club.

'Personally, I always said I'd pack in young and take a break, but the older I've become the more I've looked into coaching or managing.

'I probably will go down that route. It's a tall order, and I'm not going to say I'll go on to manage Liverpool, but you know.'

The 34 year old is still playing football at the moment, with him doing this in Australia with North Queensland Fury, but I know I wouldn't write off Robbie's chances of achieving this goal in the future.

However he will have some competition as Jamie Carragher and Stevie Gerrard have both expressed an interest in doing the same so all three could be jostling for this in the future? Maybe when Robbie finally does hang up his boots there might be a coaching position for him at Anfield to get him on the road to the one he wants?

In other Reds news, about another former player, rumours in Spain are saying that our former defender John Arne Riise could make the move from Roma to Champions League winners Barcelona this summer.

I think he'll have to get in line behind Carra, though he does have a headstart in that he'll probably be retiring and moving into coaching in the next year or two, while hopefully Carra will keep on contributing as a player for another four or five years at least (though he then has the benefit of probably becoming a coach in-house).

Oh but before that, the one former Liverpool player I would definitely like to see as a future manager of the club is Markus Babbel - he's doing legendary things at Stuttgart at the moment - he even signed Karl-Heinz Riedle's son!
