Liverpool: Stevie Tops The Poll

Stevie Tops The Poll

Stevie Gerrard has topped the Liverpoolfc.tv poll to determine the Liverpool Fans' Player of the Season. Injuries at various times this season saw us robbed of his services and despite managing on the whole his absence was visible to see, some players did come in and do a very good job to help ease this though such as Yossi Benayoun.

The Reds captain is our driving force and an inspirational figure for us so it was little surprise that 46% of the Liverpoolfc.tv voters voted the way of Stevie to see him beat Xabi Alonso into second place on 35%. I think that the Spaniard was the one that did push the England international most of all, as the poll showed, and he might have just about edged it in my honest opinion as Xabi really stepped up to the task in hand this season but again Stevie showed that he is still improving, season upon season.

Stevie is this countries, and arguably the worlds most complete player as Toby Kell so brilliantly worded previously (Revealed: The Worlds Most Complete Player) so who can begrudge him another honour to go with the Football Writers' Association's Football of the Year as well. Many would argue it was the 29 year old that also deserved the Professional Footballers Association's Player of the Year that Ryan Giggs won in the end too!

If we can once again get more of the same from Stevie next season and a few others can push him as hard as Xabi did then we'll not have a bad season will we, and could finally end that long wait for a league title?

I'm a Manchester City fan but I would have to say that Stevie G is the best player we could ever buy, but also the most impossible to get. Kaka would be easy to buy in comparison, and he is not as good a footballer. Gerrard is priceless and I truly hope you can keep him in these cynical times.

Spot on Sinbad, great comments. Here's hoping that your lot can, "knock United off their perch", in Manchester.
